
Christine Wilkens, Executive Director
Christine Wilkens is a native Vermonter who grew up in the
Burlington area. She has a B.A., with concentrations in Education
and Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health and
Substance Abuse Counseling from Johnson State College. Christine
is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), and has
been a certified Substance Abuse Counselor and a national Life
Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI) Senior Trainer for 10 years. She is
a level one Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
(EMDR) practitioner and licensed as an Official Worker for the New
England District of the Alliance denomination. Christine serves on
the pastoral staff at Essex Alliance Church as the Director of
Counseling and is the founding Executive Director and Supervising
Therapist of Azimuth Counseling and Therapeutic Services,
incorporated as a non-profit in 2005. Prior to this position, she
worked with students and families for Lamoille North Supervisory
Union as a Counselor and worked 12 years with children in
alternative education.
Her primary clinical work is with couples and adult individuals in
spiritual or existential crisis, in conflicted relationships,
experiencing PTSD, anxiety and or mood disorders. She uses an
eclectic therapeutic approach drawing from Cognitive Behavioral,
Family Systems, Solution Based and Attachment theories.
She and her husband, Jim, have been married over 34 years and
have lived in Lamoille County raising their three children and a
great assortment of pets. Chris and Jim and now enjoy spending
time with their adult children and two grandchildren. Chris loves
to garden, cook, hike, travel and spend time with family and
friends.
